Open LP - free presentation program

Empower Your Church

Your church was just given a data projector and you want to use it to display the lyrics of songs. You were thinking of using PowerPoint, but after a test found it very unwieldy. Then someone suggested that you look at certain commercial lyrics projection, but when you looked at the price tag, you knew your church could not afford that kind of money. You begin to wonder if you should just go back to hymn books and just leave projection of song words to bigger churches who can afford to do it.

Unlimited Freedom

openlp.org is free. And it's not just a below-standard freebie thing, it's a powerful, elegant open source application. What does that mean? It means that the code that the developers write is available to you. But more than that, it means that openlp.org is, and always will be, free. Free to download, free to use, free to give to all your friends. Unlimited freedom, like the freedom we find in Christ.

Some of the features you'll find in openlp.org 1.0 (from RC4):

  • Add and edit songs.
Preview songs, Bible verses and images.
Comes with two translations of the Bible - KJV & ASV.
Import a Powerpoint presentation (PowerPoint XP/2002 and up required).
Present your presentation from within openlp.org.
    Show videos.
    Show images.
Slide themes, with gradient, image and colour backgrounds, fonts & font effects.
    Import and export of themes.
Saving and opening of Orders of Service.
    Announcement pop-ups.
    Custom slides.
    Multiple Bible verses per slide.
Themes set either globally, per Order of Service or per song.
    Import Bibles from CSV files.
Search through all words in every song in database for a certain word or phrase.
Search through all words in a book of the Bible for a certain word or phrase.

Features planned for openlp.org 1.2 and later:

OpenOffice.org integration.
Text over video.

IWORSHIP - Worship Software for your MAC

IWORSHIP

Boasting a slick and intuitive interface and rock solid stability, iWorship brings professional lyric presentation to your Mac. With an interface so simple, training volunteers to use the program is a breeze. And you don't have to sacrifice ease of use for powerful features: iWorship features built in song library management, high-definition video playback support, and much more!

Live Video Playback

Have your own simple one-camera IMAG setup, even on a low budget! Plug in any compatible USB or Firewire camera and iWorship will stream the image LIVE underneath your lyrics. Unlike other programs, iWorship's live video playback has no noticeable image lag!

Integrated DVD Player

Run clips from a DVD in your service without leaving iWorship. You can even cue up a clip before the service and turn off the playback window. When you're ready, your clip will automatically resume right where you left off!

Full High-Definition Video Playback

Press the "Media" button at the top of the window and a full media player swoops down allowing you to play back videos, pictures, DVDs and even live video. iWorship includes full high-definition support at no cost -- limited only by your hardware. Play motion backgrounds behind your lyrics to enhance your worship atmosphere or even play back sermon illustration videos without having to leave iWorship and rely on another program!

Powered by Quartz

iWorship's media functions such as live video playback and video backgrounds are powered by Apple's Quartz technology. Instead of relying on Quicktime, Quartz allows immediate access to the core layers of functionality on your graphics card and CPU. This means greater stability, better performance, and more future possibilities. Quartz is now being used in most of Apple's programs such as iMovie, iPhoto and PhotoBooth for these very reasons.

Blazing Fast Editing!

Editing your worship song on the fly is incredibly fast and easy. Simply drag and drop the slides to change their order in the song. Double click any slide to edit the contents directly in the slide. Not having to move to a different window to edit the slide means incredibly fast editing even live during a presentation. iWorship also features built in live spell check that happens as you type. Simply put, the speed at which you can edit your presentation in iWorship simply can't be beat.

Import Lyrics from Anywhere

iWorship allows you to import your song lyrics for presentation from just about any source. Found the lyrics on the web? Copy it to the clipboard and iWorship will create a song for you and automatically separate it into individual slides. You can also import from almost any text document including Word documents!

Don't Worry, It's Safe!

One more reason to have a .Mac account: iWorship will automatically backup your song and media library to your iDisk using the free plugin for Apple's Backup program. In addition, iWorship was designed to not rely on a central database containing your entire library as other programs do. This means faster access times and less risk of a "database corruption" causing you to lose

7 points in setting up a laptop computer and LCD projector for the Ministry

1. Begin by setting up the peripheral devices and power supply for your laptop/computer. This includes the keyboard, mouse, IR mouse and power supply. Do not turn the power to the computer on yet.

2. The picture shows a typical setup for a laptop computer. The black box and cable to the right of the computer is the power supply. The IR mouse equipment is to the left of the equipment, which includes a remote control and an IR receiver. Connect the IR mouse receiver to the 9 pin serial port of the laptop. Connect the power supply to the 9-12 VDC jack. See picture to see what jacks to plug into.

3. Use the VGA male to male cable provided to interconnect the laptop and the LCD projector. The cable looks like this:

4. Plug one end of the VGA cable into the 15 pin "monitor out" jack of the laptop. It is the blue colored jack on the right side of the computer shown in the picture .

5. Plug the other end of the VGA cable into the "RGB 1" input jack on the LCD projector. See picture below to determine the location of this jack. Most projectors have two RGB inputs. This allows the user to connect more than one computer to the projector at a time. If you wish to use this option, simply plug the monitor output of the second computer into the "RGB 2" input. Then, you can use either the monitor or the control panel on the projector to toggle between the two inputs. Remember, computer signals use the RGB inputs only! Be sure that you have the appropriate RGB input selected when projecting one or more computer images.

6. Once all connections have been made, you may proceed to power up all devices. This is accomplished by activating the power button on the laptop and the "Standby/On" button on the projector. Once you have power to the devices and the computer has booted up, the projector should automatically sense the active input and display the appropriate image. If it does not, you need to use the remote control or the control panel on the projector to select the proper input.

7. You may need to command the computer where to send the monitor signal. This is accomplished by holding the "Function" key and pressing the "F3" key. This will toggle between 3 options: Monitor, Projector, or both. If you wish to see the display on both the projector and the monitor, hold the "Function" key and then press the F3 key until the display is being projected and also is on the laptop's monitor.
