Linux for Christian "L4C"

Is an open source operating system especially design for Christians tools and resource.

Freely available

L4C

Whats on Linux for Christian

KJV Bible Fortune Files:

Although in the Bible fortune telling is looked upon as a bad thing, the Linux "fortune" program doesn't really tell fortunes but instead displays silly one-liners when run. Many times the fortune program is run automatically and the result is displayed at your login prompt. Either way, these files, compiled by David M. Bartusik, are designed to provide your fortune program with something Christian to say - specifically a Bible quote! Simply download and unzip/tar this into your fortune data directory (usually somewhere around /usr/games/fortune) and run your fortune program with the "kjv" data like this: /usr/games/fortune kjv or alternatively you can just replace the fortune and fortune.dat files with the kjv and kjv.dat files to be able to run fortune without any paramaters.

Christian Nuggets:
These nuggets are guaranteed not to give you high cholesterol! Compiled by David M. Bartusik, these fortune files (see above) have lots of wonderful quotes by various people about the Bible and Christianity. Download and use them in the same manner as the KJV files listed above (in fact, get them both!).

Linux(daily)Bread:
I have to say this is pretty cool! Another fine program by David M. Bartusik, LinuxBread is a program that uses xmessage to display a "My Daily Bread" type of message to your xwindows session. The MDB message, of course, changes every day. Download (easiest place would be your ~/bin directory), unzip/tar into a directory and run the "linbread" script. Requires xwindows and xmessage.

Linux Bible Trivia:
Yet another one from David M. Bartusik! This Bible trivia program lets you have a new Bible trivia question each day and if you don't know the answer, it smartly gives you a passage reference for you to look up the answer! (Nothing wrong with promoting reading the Bible right?) Download (easiest place would be your ~/bin directory), unzip/tar into a directory and run the "trivia1" script. Requires xwindows and xmessage.

Bible vs. Cellphone

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to make you go....hmm...where is my Bible? Makes you stop and think "where are my priorities?"

Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill. And no dropped calls!
